The Risk Management Agency (RMA) is evaluating comprehensively the Hawaii Tropical Tree Pilot Crop Insurance Program. This evaluation is to determine whether the pilot crop insurance program for banana, coffee and papaya trees should be converted to permanent program, modified and continued as pilot, or terminated.
We will present the results of our evaluation to the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) Board of Directors (Board) for their final determination on the future availability and structure of the Hawaii Tropical Tree crop insurance program for the above mentioned crops in Hawaii.
We will hold one listening session conference call for orchardists and other interested parties, and a separate listening session conference call for private insurance industry representatives. The conference call number is (888) 844-9904 and Access Code 8604877.
The listening session for each group will be held at the following time and date:
Orchardists and Others: November 29, 2017 from 900 to 1000 HST.
Private Insurance Representatives: November 30, 2017 from 900 to 1000 HST.
The purpose of these listening sessions is to receive your feedback on how the pilot crop insurance program has performed and how we can improve it. We will consider your feedback in our evaluation that we will present to the FCIC Board.
Our goal is to keep these listening sessions to a one-hour duration. We plan to ask a series of questions related to the current crop insurance program to solicit your feedback.
Your participation in these listening sessions will provide vital feedback that we will use to determine whether these programs continue to be offered and to ensure RMA can deliver quality Federal crop insurance to Hawaiian orchardists.
We highly encourage your participation and look forward to receiving feedback.
